A very special birthday wish to Sammy who turns 5 today - hip, hip, hooray!
Happy school days to you Sammy. Big hugs xx I've just finished watching one of my favourite films with the kids, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and really want to organise a Scrumdidilyumptious Willy Wonka party. The only problem is Ella's too young to know who Willy Wonka is and Nathan would rather have a superhero party.
Chocolate fountains; giant candy canes, lollipops and gobstoppers; coconut ice, pink macaroons and jelly cups; peanut butter and jam sandwiches; lickable wallpaper; candy floss; sherbet lollies and scrumptious toffee apples; giant toadstools and top hats…it would be a truly delectable party! Two special birthday wishes go out to Lucy who turns 2 today and Alexi who turns 3.
Hope you have a magical day girls! Big hugs xx Today was Macy's 5th birthday and to celebrate we threw her an Enchanted party.
A Tinkerbell bouncy castle, toadstools, candy floss machine, yummy party food, pirates, fairies, treasure hunts, balloon stomp, 20 sugary smiles, and to top it all off, gorgeous sunshine. Thank you Macy for letting us share in your special day. Happy school days to you! Big hugs xx A very special birthday wish to Dylan who turns 1 today - hip, hip, hooray!
Big hugs, Jo xx Looking for inspiration for a birthday cake? Check out the gorgeous birthday cakes and cupcakes on marthastewart.com -
http://www.marthastewart.com/photogallery/kids-birthday-cakes There are also some great ideas for party themes. Can't decide on a theme for your winter party? Why not serve up some icy fun with a cool snow party?
Turn the party room into an artic wonderland and make snow caves by putting white sheets over furniture. Fill small chilli bins with ice, iceblocks or Eskimo pies! Make penguin cupcakes, snowball marshmallow skewers and get the kids to decorate snowflake cookies. If you’re lucky enough to live where it snows, have a snowball fight and make snow angels! Hip, Hip, Hooray! It's time for cake at Lions & Ladybirds as we celebrate our 1st birthday.
Talking of cake, last year the Think Pink Rocks cancer charity in the US secured the World Record for the largest cupcake. It was enormous at 4 1/2 feet high and 6 feet wide. They used: 240 pounds of eggs; 225 pounds of sugar; 510 pounds of flour; 225 pounds of baking powder; vast amounts of oil, vanilla, cocoa, salt, milk and water; and, 350 pounds of icing. It took 24 hours of baking time; 5 bakers; and, an oven 10 feet wide x 10 feet high to make it. I wonder how long it took them to eat it?! Check out this photo taken at my cousin’s 5th birthday party in 1972. I just love the party hats!
See if you can spot the pikelets and cheerios – great to see they’re still a firm favourite almost 40 years on. |
